Case studies

Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.

William Plomer (1903–1973)

Today's opinion leaders and decision makers are faced with increasingly complex and potentially conflictual issues. Domain-specific abilities and processes can no longer be expected to provide adequate solutions to today's most explosive issues: Poverty, inequality, corruption, human rights abuse, climate change etc. By their very nature, these are problems that transgress disciplinary boundaries, and therefore call for creative, interdisciplinary concepts and solutions.

Against this background, IPA Cologne aims to create bridges between individuals and groups with high motivation to face today's most challenging issues, both locally and globally, on the one hand, and knowledgeable, highly-skilled creative thinkers on the other hand, with view to promoting the emergence of innovative, flexible and context-sensitive solutions. In other words, we aim to help create optimal interfaces between abilities and processes in a wide variety of economic, political and cultural environments.
